Plan a garden sauna around the way you will use it

Choose the interior layout before the exterior shape. A sauna for occasional use by two people and a sauna shared by holiday guests have different demands on changing space, circulation and day-to-day care.

Separate seating from the overall footprint

The manufacturer lists several lengths and layouts for the barrel, igloo, square, pod and cube ranges. An overall length does not tell you how much space belongs to the hot room. Compare the drawing for the exact version, including any porch or changing area. Ask how the quoted capacity relates to the bench layout.

Decide where people will change

A changing room may improve the route between the house, sauna and garden, but it also uses space. Check door positions, privacy and where wet towels and footwear will go. A compact sauna beside the house may work differently from a sauna at the far end of a guest property.

Choose heating with the installation in mind

Compare the published heater choices for your model. Before selecting an electric heater, have a qualified installer check the available supply against the manufacturer’s final requirements. For a wood-burning installation, confirm the chimney arrangement and required clearances from the supplied documentation. A price option alone does not confirm that a heater is suitable for your site.

Plan for care and access

Leave an agreed route to service equipment and surfaces that need cleaning or maintenance. Discuss ventilation, drainage, the supporting base and exposure to weather with the supplier and installer. Do not prepare permanent connections from a catalogue photograph.

Make the enquiry specific

Send the model, preferred length and layout, heater choice, intended use and delivery postcode. Ask for a dimensioned drawing, transport weight, assembly scope and installation instructions for that configuration. The catalogue calculation remains a reference until the written distributor offer confirms the complete scope.
